BARREN & NOT MATED: All Barren mares, and those Not Mated in 2005, are required to have a clean uterine culture, taken in 2006, for the first and every other subsequent cover, (i.e. third, fifth etc. This does not include doubles). A clean culture Certificate must accompany the mare to the shed. The culture for return covers must be taken during the current heat period.
MAIDEN MARES: The requirements will be the same as those for Barren and Not Mated mares, with the exception that Maiden mares must be jumped before being presented for breeding.
FOALING MARES: No culture is required for the first cover. A clean regular uterine culture is required for the third cover, and every other subsequent cover (i.e. fifth, seventh, etc. This does not include doubles). The culture must be taken during the current heat period.
IMPORTED MARES: Contact the State Veterinarian's office in Frankfort regarding testing procedures and acquisition of a Quarantine Release. A copy of the QUARANTINE RELEASE must accompany the mare on her first trip to the breeding shed. All imported mares will be booked for the last breeding session of the day. In addition to the normal requirements for Maiden mares, all fillies of foreign origin, except Canada, which have not been qualified for cover during the previous breeding season, are required to have two (2) sets of negative CEM cultures and a pre-breeding CF test. One set of cultures must be obtained in early estrus, the second may be obtained during a period of 7 - 14 days before or after the culture in estrus. The imported filly, as well as the first three (3) mares bred after her, must be CF tested 15 - 40 days post-breeding. PROOF of CF blood having been drawn will be required for breeding a second time.
IMPORTED FOALING
& BARREN MARES: The Imported mare, as well as the first three (3) mares bred after her, will be required to have a CF test drawn 15 - 40 days postbreeding. PROOF of CF blood having been drawn will be required for breeding a second time.
EVA POSTIVE MARES: Any mare which is EVA positive, without proof of being sero-negative prior to vaccination, must be identified as such when booking the mare, and she will be bred during the last session of the day.
***** ALL MARES MUST HAVE PROPER IDENTIFICATION WHEN BEING PRESENTED FOR BREEDING (Halter or neck strap with correct name).
A MARE WITHOUT PROPER IDENTIFICATION WILL NOT BE BRED. *****
